Built three years before the Thunderbird, the Vignale-bodied Ford/Cisitalia convertible was the first sports car developed by Ford Motor Company. A joint venture between Ford and Italy’s Cisitalia, the car combined Ford chassis and engines with Italian design. Though 500 units were projected annually, only six were made, just one of them a convertible, shipped to Dearborn in June 1953.
